From: Farid El-Husseini, Attentional Ltd.
As part of its review of the value of the Channel 3 (ITV) and Channel 5 (Five) licences, Ofcom has commissioned Attentional to help it assess the value of EPG prominence. One benefit of PSB licences is the right to an appropriate degree of prominence on EPGs. Attentional's task is to assess the audience impact of occupying a prominent (i.e. Page One) EPG position on the Satellite, Cable and Freeview platforms.

The lead consultant on this project is Dr Farid El-Husseini (Head of Consultancy), who has led major EPG research projects for UKTV, Discovery, Virgin Media and QVC. The Discovery project is in the public domain. As part of Discovery’s response to Ofcom’s second PSB review, Farid and his team were commissioned to assess the impact of Sky EPG positioning on channel performance. They were able to demonstrate that moves into or out of prominent positions within the Entertainment, Documentaries and Lifestyle & Culture sections had statistically significant audience impacts.
