C21 and Attentional have joined forces to produce a unique report on the current and future trends in European programming.
Programming The Future will combine exclusive channel analysis from C21’s premium Schedule Watch strand with Attentional’s unique approach to understanding and evaluating content, including the use of the Attention System. This is a unique system used throughout the development process - from concept to script to pilot, to market evaluation and series development. It has been employed successfully on hit shows currently on-air on major networks in the US, UK, Europe and Australia.
The Report’s findings will form the backbone narrative for C21Media’s Programming The Future Live event, which takes place on September 3 at BAFTA in London.
Using a series of case studies from the UK and Europe, Programming The Future will examine:
ROI (Return on Investment) models for content creation;
Key drivers for audience engagement;
Core ingredient diagnostics for top programmes;
Arousal systems for script and pilot development;
Schedule strategy and programme positioning;
Content development trends across major markets;
Channel programming requirements.
In addition, Zak Shaikh of Attention Inc. will give a personal view on the prospects for the new season’s network schedule.
The live event will also bring together leading television executives from UK and European channels to discuss the findings of this research, and their content agendas for 2011 and beyond.
C21Media editor-in-chief & managing director David Jenkinson said: “This partnership with Attentional will add a new dimension to Programming The Future Live and also feed into a unique report, following the event, that will help the content business better understand what channels want, and how to craft a hit.
“We hope that the work we develop together will help the industry to benchmark programming trends and also understand what works, and why, in Europe’s leading television markets.”
David Graham, CEO of Attentional, said: “I am very much looking forward to working on this report. Our mission as a company is to reduce the risks for clients who develop, produce or manage content. We welcome the opportunity to put our Attention System, which has been very successful in the US, in front a group of top European industry professionals.”
