DEBUTS
Vera returned to ITV1 for a second series at 8pm. The crime drama series, based on a novel by Ann Cleeves, stars Brenda Blethyn as the detective DCI Vera Stanhope. The ITV Studios production drew an opening audience of 4.5m (17.1%), gaining a Performance Index of 66.1. The previous series averaged 5m (20.3%).
Ewan McGregor: Cold Chain Mission is a new two-part series from iEntertainment for BBC2. The show observes the actor as he embarks on a quest to immunise children who live in some of the most remote places on earth, starting in India. An audience of 1.8m (7%) watched at 9pm, providing a Performance Index of 108.9.
Indian Ocean with Simon Reeve, from the BBC, began a six-part run on BB
C2 at 8pm. The Adventurer explores the edge of the Indian Ocean, beginning in the rugged coast of South Africa where he joins the fight against wildlife poachers. An audience of 2m (7.2%) watched the first instalment, providing a Performance Index of 74.3.
