The Competition Commission ruled that BSkyB’s stranglehold on movies from the big Hollywood studios does not harm competition in the pay-TV market. The watchdog said it believed consumers attached more importance to having access to a broad range of content and to price than they do to seeing the most recent movie content.

DEBUTS

Hairy Dieters: How to Love Food and Lose Weight began a four-part run on BBC2 at 8pm. The BBC show sees the food lovers embark on a quest to eat the foods they like but still manage to lose weight and lower cholesterol at the same time. An audience of 2.4m (10%) gave a  Performance Index of 125.2. The previous series Hairy Bikers’ Bake-ation concluded an eight-part run earlier this year (May) and averaged 2.7m (11.7%).

Lemon La Vida Loca also began a four-part run. The spoof reality show follows the life of the fictional character Keith Lemon. An audience of  920,000 (4.6%) watched on ITV2 at 10pm, gaining a Performance Index of 1341. The previous Talkback creation involving Lemon, Keith Lemon’s LemonAid, averaged 2.5m (14%) on Saturday evenings for ITV1 in May.
